Updated Statistics

We now have at least one athlete from every CrossFit Affiliate in the state.  Awesome!

CrossFit Billings is officially leading the way with 12, count ‘em, TWELVE athletes competing.  That’s nearly a third of the total field!  CrossFit Montana isn’t far behind, with 9 athletes registered, and CrossFit Missoula so far is sending 8.  There are still 3 athletes from Missoula that might possibily be unattached, so depending on who they choose to identify with (if anyone), this race could go either way.

We have 19 Females and 20 Males registered.

Don’t forget to send in your athlete profiles to jenna@bridgercrossfit.com

Preliminary Stats

So far, we have 37 people registered (with 3 imcomplete registrations – finish up!).

We have at least one athlete from every CrossFit Affiliate in the state, except for Alternative Athletics CrossFit in Billings (They are the newest, so we’ll give them a break), AND even one unattached athlete from Helena.

CrossFit Montana is (probably) leading the pack with at least 9 athletes competing.  CrossFit Missoula isn’t far behind, with 6 athletes.  And, there are 4 athletes from Missoula competing, and it was unclear whether they were affiliated with CrossFit Missoula or just lived in Missoula.  So, CrossFit Missoula potentially has 10 athletes competing.

Billings also has 12 athletes competing, but again, it is unclear exactly how many of those athletes are from CrossFit Billings, or just Billings.

The rest just have one or two.  Looks like one of the Montana teams, or maybe Billings, will have the best shot at the Affiliate Cup!

There are 21 athletes registered to complete the workouts as Rx’dEleven of you chose to scale to Option BFive of the athletes competing have chosen Option C.  I expect that as more people sign up, it will shift so that a great percentage of athletes will scale the workouts.  We’ll see what happens.

There are 19 men and 18 women registered.  The 3 people with “incomplete” registrations are men.

Wanna be famous?

If you have registered to compete at the Montana State Games, we’d love to get your picture! Similar to what you might see on the CrossFit Games website, we will be profiling the athletes who will be competing in our Games.  It doesn’t matter if you are doing the WODs as Rx’d or you chose Option C.  I think we can all agree that reading the athlete profiles is just FUN.

Here is something to get you started:

(Benchmark WOD times.  If you cannot do them as Rx’d or prefer to put a non Rx’d time, that’s okay, just put down how you scaled it.  If you’ve never done the WOD, that’s okay too, just leave it blank.  Or, better yet, go do it.)

Registration is now open

Click here to register for the Montana State Games.

There are 80 slots available for competitors.  The cost to compete is $50.  Late registration, if we don’t sell out, will run from August 1 – August 25, and the charge will be $65.

If you wish to compete and you are under the age of 18, you must bring a parent or guardian with you to the event so that they may sign the consent form.

When you register you will be asked to select a scaling option.  You can change your scaling up until the night before the event, but please try to select the option you are most likely to stick with.  If you need to change your scaling option before the games, send an email to jenna@bridgercrossfit.com.

Introducing the Montana State Games

Bridger CrossFit in Bozeman, MT is very excited to be hosting the first annual Montana State Games.  The Games will be held on August 29, 2009.  The competition is limited to 80 athletes.

There will be 2 timed events in 1 day.  The format will be the “Every Second Counts” format used at the CrossFit Games in 2008, where the athlete with the lowest cumulative time from both workouts wins.  Each affiliate in the state will have an opportunity to submit up to 4 workouts, and we will pull from a hopper.

The purpose of the Montana State Games is two-fold.  First, it is a competition to determine the fittest man and woman in Montana.  Second, it is a community event and is designed to bring CrossFit Athletes together from across the state of Montana so that we can celebrate the sport we love.  There will be 3 total scaling options for the workouts (1 Rx’d, 2 scaled).  Our goal is to create an event that excludes no one.  We expect the athletes who must scale the WoDs to be just as, if not more, competitive than the athletes doing the Rx’d weight.  Also, this will allow people with very little, if any, CrossFit experience to get a taste of the Sport of Fitness.

The events will be judged and each athlete will have a judge counting his or her reps.  If you plan to compete in the Montana State games, make sure you are practicing full range of motion on all of your movements.  We expect you to squat to proper depth, touch your chest to the ground, achieve full lockout in overhead movements, etc.

Most of all, it will be a lot of fun.  We’re looking forward to it!
