Bridger CrossFit in Bozeman, MT is very excited to be hosting the first annual Montana State Games. The Games will be held on August 29, 2009. The competition is limited to 80 athletes.
There will be 2 timed events in 1 day. The format will be the “Every Second Counts” format used at the CrossFit Games in 2008, where the athlete with the lowest cumulative time from both workouts wins. Each affiliate in the state will have an opportunity to submit up to 4 workouts, and we will pull from a hopper.
The purpose of the Montana State Games is two-fold. First, it is a competition to determine the fittest man and woman in Montana. Second, it is a community event and is designed to bring CrossFit Athletes together from across the state of Montana so that we can celebrate the sport we love. There will be 3 total scaling options for the workouts (1 Rx’d, 2 scaled). Our goal is to create an event that excludes no one. We expect the athletes who must scale the WoDs to be just as, if not more, competitive than the athletes doing the Rx’d weight. Also, this will allow people with very little, if any, CrossFit experience to get a taste of the Sport of Fitness.
The events will be judged and each athlete will have a judge counting his or her reps. If you plan to compete in the Montana State games, make sure you are practicing full range of motion on all of your movements. We expect you to squat to proper depth, touch your chest to the ground, achieve full lockout in overhead movements, etc.
Most of all, it will be a lot of fun. We’re looking forward to it!
